Comprised of both a fantastic selection of food and wine accompanied with a nice friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. This restaurant is without a shadow of doubt the best place to eat in Ilfracombe if not Devon. I had took my family to Seventy One when holidaying in Ilfracombe and do not regret it for a moment. The restaurant had made such an impression on our first night that we ensured that we ate there on more than one occasion in our short one week stay. I would confidently recommend to all.

The best meal of our holiday! A great find, wonderful food beautifully presented by the very friendly owners... and in a nice comfortable and smart setting. Oh, and great value too. We'll be back. PS Stayed at the Elmfield Hotel. That was great too.

This is the ultimate place to eat in Ilfracombe. It cannot be surpassed. The food is certainly the best in the town and it might also be fair to say this rates with the very best in the south west. Full marks for superb food, beautifully cooked and presented. Lovely decor and atmosphere along with friendly, helpful and efficient service from all the staff. We experienced an evening of great enjoyment and won't hesitate to dine here again. Thoroughly recommended. Thank you to all at Seventy One.

I have been to this restaurant about 6 times now the first being on our honeymoon in 2003 and the food was to die for. The owners Peter and Jane make you very welcome and there is a lovely atmosphere. We now go to Ilfracombe just to eat at Seventy One and have been known to travel from Bridgwater for just one night's stay whatever the weather to have a meal at the best restaurant we know.

We dined in Seventy 1 on our first night of the holiday. The greeting was warm, the menu and drinks came immediately, the food was really excellent. There are only 26 - 30 covers in this bijou restaurant and attention to service, detail and quality means everything to this husband-and-wife team. We enjoyed the food, the wine and the ambiance so much we made a return visit to taste more from the excellent menu. We were not disappointed. We shall be back.

A real gem. Fish as beautifully cooked, presented and tasty as I've encountered anywhere south of Caithness. Very pleasant, friendly, family-run establishment; intimate but quietly stylish. Middling prices, but more than justified by quality of food. Should be in Hardens if it's not there already.

Beautifully cooked, quality produce. Everything we had was delicious. Amazing and perfect pavlova. Couldn't fault it. Highly recommended.

The restaurant 71 is one of the finest places I have eaten in Devon. The restaurant is family owned and the chef seems to have a lot of cooking experience. The food is always mouth-wateringly perfect and is a actually as nice as it sounds on the menu. The restaurant itself is quite small but decorated very nicely. I would not stay near Ilfracombe without giving this restaurant a go. A bit more expensive than your average high street restaurant but I'd pay twice as much for the food they offer!

Seventy One is a lovely restaurant that has a warm atmosphere and excellent service.I have a food allergy and they always able to accommodate me as everything is freshly prepared. They have a wide menu and different specials each time we visit. I would definitely recommend to all.

The two restaurants I thought I would eat at were both full so this was my third choice, never again will I eat anywhere else but here when I visit Ilfracombe. The menu was fab and really quite reasonable, when the food came it was amazing and I am sure far better than the first two places we looked at. All I can say is make sure you visit, the menu changes due to availability of items. I had Cod with scallops and puy lentils which was really really good and my husband had venison which he said was the best he had tasted. Please try for yourselves you will not be disappointed. On an evening stroll through Ilfracombe we decided to ask if there was a table and were told we could eat at 8.30pm. So we popped for a pint and came back. The bistro is small, but with a very welcoming atmosphere and staff who take their time to explain the menu and specials. We had three courses and all were excellent, particularly the main course of Monkfish in a Lobster risotto. Neither could the summer pudding for dessert be faulted either. What was best is that the whole atmosphere was very relaxed and nothing too stressful, particularly when when we ran out of bread with the starter, were brought more, and not charged - coming from a big city both the not charging and the feeling of not being rushed was a welcome change. Overall, highly recommended Visited September 2016 Ian Wollaton

After turning up without booking we thought we would be turned away but luckily for us another couple hadn't turned up so we had a good start to the evening. My wife had lobster salad and I surf and turf. Wine was an excellent new Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, my wife's favourite. Food was top notch and certainly the best we had tasted over the course of our week in Ilfracombe. Pleasant and helpful staff, and cosy atmosphere. All round 5 stars! Visited September 2016

We visited Seventy One while on a trip to North Devon in September 2016. Nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed our evening so much that we booked again for our last night while we were there! Lovely fresh fish and a really good bistro menu. Everything we were served was delicious. Clientele all couples or small groups - it's quite small so a pretty intimate dining room. Very reasonable prices and excellent value considering the quality of the food and the thought and skill which had gone into their preparation. Great service - professional and friendly but not intrusive, but happy to chat if that's what you like. Small but perfectly formed wine list and tap water offered at the outset.Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great food and a proper grown up dinner date! Visited September 2016

We ate here on New Years Eve and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is a small Bistro type restaurant run by husband and wife team Peter and Jane. Peter Does the cooking and is clearly a very experienced chef because his food is outstanding. We started with some lovely scallops with black pudding Bon Bon’s in a pea purée before moving on to an absolutely beautiful venison steak with a small venison and Stilton pie on the side and some lovely veggies complemented by a Madeira sauce. Wine was also good and very reasonably priced and the sticky toffee pudding dessert was to die for. I cannot recommend this little restaurant enough because the food really is beautiful and excellent value for money. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

We had an amazing meal here. They were totally unfazed by my husbands dietary needs. Everything was beautifully freshly cooked. Without a doubt my open crab ravioli starter was one of the best I have ever had. My husbands specially cooked (dairy free) scallops were wonderful too. We both loved our main courses, rack of lamb with shepherds pie and slow cooked belly of pork with black pudding. Thank you again for such a memorable meal. The only sadness was we had no room for sweet!
